I knew the best way forward…

…was to start putting words to paper and exercise my brain when all I wanted to do was check out and bury my head under the covers…

…I realized that getting my thoughts down wouldn’t be easy but that it was an important enough topic to give it my best effort. I also wanted to provide my kids (and perhaps their families, one day) with an account of who I was and what I had endured during a difficult period in my life. I wanted to leave something behind.

The House I Built

Reflections on life, healing, and things in between

This book chronicles the struggles I faced coming off a doctor-prescribed benzodiazepine told alongside my more memorable life experiences. I soon discovered that writing this memoir was as much about hope and finding meaning as it was the need for me to feel well. And to live my life to the fullest, regardless of circumstances, so that others may benefit.

About The Author

Chris Settle

Chris is a regular guy living in Seattle with his family – living out his wonderfully unspectacular life, as he prefers.

This book is his first publication – a process fueled by a desire to tell his story, with some semblance to who he is as a person, as well as one person’s accounting of having faced and overcome challenging circumstances.

Chris has spent much of the past couple of decades working within the creative field, managing people and projects in advertising and marketing.
